These are exciting times for the charity, and we now have an excellent opportunity for a proactive and professional team player with outstanding interpersonal skills and a strong customer service ethic to join our busy team. As Policy and Compliance Adviser, you will act as a focal point to ensure that TDSI is compliant with a range of organisational and statutory policies and procedures, particularly for implementing partner due diligence and national compliance requirements. You will manage action plans on behalf of leadership and policy owners across the organisation, ensuring that policies and procedures can be applied to TDSI, and will work with UK-based and country leadership to ensure consistent compliance.

About you:

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant area or equivalent demonstrable experience in Policy and Compliance, legal processes and contracting.
  • Demonstrable experience working in a compliance or project management role in animal welfare, international development or other relevant international sectors.
  • Demonstrable experience in convening and coordinating policy and compliance plans, including roll-out and verification.
  • Proven track record of conveying and coordinating complex multi-stakeholder discussions including chairing meetings and managing the delivery of actions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to build strong working relationships internationally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven experience of working and communicating internationally and successfully with diverse internal and external stakeholders.

About the role:

Your principal duties and responsibilities will include –

  • Developing and Managing Policy and Compliance Frameworks and Action-Plans for TDSI.
  • Providing an advisory function to colleagues across the charity managing compliance requirements in relation to international operations.
  • Ensuring that Legal and Governance functions are able to operate in country by acting as the interface between UK corporate governance and TDSI.
  • Designing and implementing a comprehensive system to monitor and regularly review the charity's policies, procedures, and guidelines, ensuring they remain current, effective, and compliant with all relevant legislative updates and industry standards.
  • Ensuring that effective training is available, accessed and delivered to ensure compliance, working with relevant policy and subject matter experts.
  • Maintaining a detailed, up-to-date understanding of organisational and statutory obligations, policies, procedures and compliance requirements across key donors, ensuring that current and future obligations are widely shared, accessed and understood across the organisation.
  • Leading on the identification and sharing of best practice in compliance, supporting in country programmes to benefit from each other's learning in regards to compliance issues.

What we offer:

This is a full-time, 18-month fixed term contract working 39 hours per week, Monday-Friday.

The working pattern for this role will combine onsite and home working under our guiding principles for such roles, with onsite attendance at The Donkey Sanctuary Ireland, Knockardbane, County Cork, currently anticipated to be 2 days per week.
